Mobile innovators for Africa

I have been keeping myself bussy and occupied lately. One of the things I have veen working on is finishing my personal website which will published very soon. Recently, I have also applied for competition by Nokia mobile phone company, Calling All Innovators Africa 2009 competition.

Africa is one of the largest if not the largest market for mobile, and demand is still growing.

The competition is aimed creating a mobile applications such as games, wall papers, or animation for Afria.

The application must add some value to the lives of Africans.

The result of this competion will be announced on December 7th 2009.

The first place winner will win $125, 000 in cash price. The 4 runners up will

each win $10, 000 in cash prize.

Seen that a lot was at satke, I decide to take my chances.

All my applications have been submited, I am only praying and waiting for

favorable result come December.

EXECUTION VISION

My latest ideas range from solar technology, Mobile application, Educational multimedia applications, sustainable product design, to electromagnet, and cell-phone battery charger. These ideas are both basic technologies combines with hands on design and innovation. Most of these are what you call sustainable development and D.I .Y innovation, most of which are not taught in the 4 walls of college. They are capable of making the world a better place, they capable of alleviating poverty in the developing countries in the world.

The core of this concept is sustainable human and environmental solution. They are basic technology, designs and innovations that are offers simple solutions to human and environmental needs. Solar energy has been around for ages.Solar technology is a means through which photosynthesis occurs. It is a proven clean alternative technology that offers sustainable solution to the ever growing energy demand. Solar technology in solar LED lamps is cheap and saves money that would have been spent on toxic chemicals such kerosene.

Electromagnet is yet another basic technology that is capable of generating energy, and other useful application. Electromagnets use magnets, battery and cooper wire to generate dc electricity. Electro-magnet is the building block of alternators found in cars, windmills (wind power), hydro-electric turbine, and electric-fan. In other words it found in moving structure such as like rotors and spinning wheels (turbines).Making a battery is as easy as abc. All you need is salt water (otherwise known electrolyte) aluminum, metal found in coins, and paper. The cell-phone battery is just as easy.

This is what you call DIY.All this might not be big ideal. You may say "ITS ALL BEEN DONE BEFORE" "YOUR WAISTING YOUR TIME" "IT WON'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM". YEAH. But we can improve it, through innovation. It can be improved through using every day materials, green materials, recycled materials and then delivered to people. This is innovation. The world needs innovation, Africa needs innovation.

Baby Steps

The world is what one makes of it. People choose to be ambitious, people choose to poor. Life is to some extent, series of random events. The final outcome or end result of an event is determined by re-actions, behavioral response to an event.

The human life is a sum of events and re-actions to those events. In other words, we own our destiny, and the choice we make in re-action to favorable and unfavorable events shapes that destiny. You, see people in different circumstance react in different ways. In this world there are those, who fight to attain their rightful place in the society. And there are those who sit and let the car drive it self. There are people who only pray and perform sacrifices hoping that the gods will favor them. How wrong are they? It is stated in the Bible that Heaven will only come to the aid of those who help themselves. It pays to know that Good luck is where hard work, productivity, proper planning and timing intercept one other.

I started this blog, because I want to establish what I call a FOUNDATION. In other words I want to begin looking for ways in which I can establish an enterprise that will have positive impact. A small part-time business, pretty much sums it up.

You might be asking yourself, what led you to do this?I became tired of letting things take their natural path. The current global recession, marked a turning point. The global financial downturn has taken the world by storm. Never since the great depression as many financial institutions, banks, Automobile dealership, fall by the waist side. Realistically speaking, my chance of getting a job in this economic environment is extremely slim.

I spent my time researching on using my skills and interest to make a difference in the world. Today's world certainly needs heroes, people who rise to the occasion and turn things around for the better. I have been working on ideas such starting a small business/ entrepreneur, sustainable product design development, and alternative energy(solar energy) for Africa. I have attended a conference on solar energy in Boston recently. I am a member of meetup.com, a social media site for small business and networking events.I attended a conference last week at RISDand Brown University, A better world by Design. I will talk a lot about this eye opening event later.

The reason I am doing all these things, is to set up a building block, a foundation for a meaningful life with positive impact. Right now, I am prototyping ideas and having people share their thoughts and opinions about it.
